June Sunday

Check out a little interview I gave over at My Bit Of Earth.
Really fun blog and I am happy to be advertising on it!
Mel, the writer, is funny and warm and down to earth.

Having a quiet day here in the country. Some mowing, cleaning, grilling, blogging.
Enjoying a bit of cloudy mild weather-always a treat in June.

Loving the beeswax candle in the crystal candle holder in the fern covered mosaic bowl on the vintage plate on the mid century modern round coffee table passed on to us by my daughter! Whew!
My five daughters and I are known in the family for screeching to a halt if we sight an interesting giveaway or bulky trash offering on the curb...carting the treasure-to-be home...tweaking it to suit our needs..and smugly admiring our thriftiness and vision.

The men in our lives accept this about us and no longer argue about the hauling and such. (Well, I don't think they do.)

We also , over the years, have passed so many items of furniture, dishes, clothes, and all manner of household goodness on to each other, home to home and back again, that our homes have become oddly merged.
Each of homes reflects our own personalities but at the same time look comfortably familiar.
We all see items that were once "ours" now resting cozily in each other's spaces. Shifting about frequently. Love that.Threads of connection.

Loving having morning coffee on the back porch which is newly deep cleaned.
Beautiful meadow view in front of us and our comfy porch chairs...a line of demarcation between the orderly front half of the giant porch and the not yet  cleaned bits behind us. Proof that I am succeeding at trying to balance work, family, out of school grandkids, chores and duties. Training myself to be ok with walking away from a task and finishing it later because ...well... I just want to!

That is the cardinal's nest recently nestled in my front porch geranium hanging basket. The speckled eggs have hatched and the birds have grown enough to fly away. Every year. Like clockwork. Love that, too.
The nest is now sitting on a faded pink table right outside my front door.
A sweet, random collection of a few old treasures that greet us as we enter our home.

Momma and Papa Bear prototypes. Need bigger pockets on vest to hold felt fish and strawberries. Of course. Because bears get hungry.

And a new felt fawn....probably need to stop thinking up new woodland critters and get stitching to build up stock for holiday show! I can move a lot of foresty goodness during the holidays so best get after that.
Except I want to create a hanging fish thing with a pompom......so.....we shall see.
